Savary Lands Preserved

Erasing Boundaries

Savary has a lot density nine times greater than Bowen Island, and twenty times greater than Denman Island, but is tiny compared to either Island.  According to research conducted in support of the Official Community Plan, Savary is reaching “critical development thresholds”.  The number of parcels and their potential for development are excessive and far beyond what the Island’s fragile nature can sustain.   Apart from lands preserved on Savary, 750 acres are divided into over 1710 parcels; over 1500 of these parcels are less than 0.5 acres, clearly, this is an unsustainable situation that needs our action.

In order to encourage more people to consolidate their lots, Martin and Sarah Gouin donated $50,000 to establish the Gouin Family Lot Consolidation Fund.  SILT administers the Fund and is pleased to announce that property owners may now apply for grants.  Click on attachments below for more information and application forms.
